KPHO Segment on Angels On Call aired 12/15/2008 on the 10:00pm newscast. Click HERE to watch!

In April, 2008, a Mesa woman received a complete home makeover, thanks to the staff and volunteers at Stardust's ANGELS ON CALL and in conjunction with our friends at NASCAR Angels. The woman's home needed extensive repairs to make it safe and habitable. With the support of many individuals and vendors, over $135,000 in repairs and upgrades were made to the home. The homeowner received new landscaping; roofing; complete kitchen remodel including cabinets, countertops and appliances; new flooring; furniture and more.

The home, and the surprise "reveal" to the homeowner, is featured in episode #221 of the NASCAR Angels reality TV show. Click the NASCAR ANGELS graphic to learn more and to watch the episode!

Classic 100 Gold Marathon

What is the Classic 100 Golf Marathon?

It is an incredibly fun event, which will raise some serious bucks for Stardust Building Supplies. It is a way for golfers, both duffer and low handicapper alike, to rally support while doing something they will really enjoy - playing golf. When compared to a traditional golf tournament, golf marathons are more fun and substantially more profitable.

Here's the Fun Part:

Yes, you will play 100 holes. No, we're not kidding. One hundred holes are very doable. Many golfers in past marathons have been able to play more than 100 holes. In fact, the record for a golf marathon is an amazing 409 holes in one day! Several changes in the format of the game are made to speed up the play...
Every golfer has his own cart, and plays at his own speed.

Golfers may hit multiple balls, and each ball counts as one hole played.
We play "ready golf" with a maximum field of 54 golfers.
No looking for lost balls, OB's etc. Merely drop another ball and keep hitting.
Whenever your score on a hole reaches triple bogey, pick up, score the hole as completed, and move on to the next hole.

You may play any hole, or series of holes, in any order as many times as you want.
On the green, any putt inside the leather is a "gimme."
Longest Drive and Closest-to-Pin contests all-day long

What's In It for Me?

Besides a lot of fun and the satisfaction of helping Stardust Building Supplies in a big way, you will receive...
Breakfast, Lunch and continuous refreshments
Plenty of golf balls to smack away.
The opportunity to earn some great prizes, depending on the amount of pledges that you have raised.
A tax write-off for any donated funds.

Ok, What's the Catch?

Well, there really isn't any catch. Each golfer who participates in the Golf Marathon will be required to do three things.
Give A Day & Play golf at the golf course. Shotgun start right after breakfast.
Sponsor yourself for at least $1 per hole. Your $100 donation is payable in advance and is tax deductible.

Solicit sponsorships from business associates and friends with a goal of raising an additional $24 per hole...that amounts to $2,500 each golfer can raise for this most worthwhile cause. So, you can see with a field of 40 golfers, each raising $2,500, we could reach our goal of $100,000. WOW!

Ok, "Gimme" the Details

The Stardust Classic 100 Golf Marathon will be played on January 24, 2009 at the Encanto Lil 9, with the location details to follow in up coming newsletters. The Marathon will give you a very rare opportunity to play on a golf course, almost by yourself, and complete the equivalent of a month's worth of golf in one day! Our day's agenda will be something like this...
Breakfast at sun up
Shot gun start.
Flail away for at least 100 holes.
Marathon stops when it either gets too dark to see, or the golf course staff runs us off.
Go home, soak your muscles, and rub on some Ben Gay!
Smile a lot - you've done a great thing today!

Did You Say I Could Win Some Great Prizes?

Yep! All golfers who can acquire sponsorship greater than our requested $25 per hole can reap the following....
For sponsorship of $30 per hole - A 4 day / 3 night stay for two at one of 81 resorts.
For $50 per hole - A 4 day / 3 night stay for two, including some airfare money.
For $100 per hole - A 5 day / 6 night vacation for two at beautiful Kapalua, Maui, HI.
For $150 per hole - Hold on to your knickers...You'll receive 8 days in Scotland, including airfair, golf, hotels, and meals for one.

How Angels On Call Helps The Community

Angels On Call (AOC) provides no-cost home repair services and other related assistance programs to eligible low-income and/or fixed-income homeowners. The repairs are performed by a team of volunteer tradesmen and technicians. These volunteers perform basic safety, security and/or quality of life home repairs and maintenance to these homeowners.

Angels On Call is a program operated by Stardust Building Supplies(SBS), a non-profit 501(c)3 community service organization that provides low-cost, donated building materials to the public through two retail centers in the Phoenix area. Profits and materials from SBS's retail centers help support the AOC program.

Since its inception in 2000, AOC has provided over $500,000 of material, services, and support to those in need. In 2007, AOC assisted over 90 homeowners with needed repairs and services.

Don't Waste! DONATE!

Recycling and reinvesting in the community are core issues to the mission of Stardust Building Supplies, a unique Arizona non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Founded in 1997, Stardust Building Supplies operates discount building materials warehouses that offer new and gently used materials and supplies at 50-80 percent off regular retail price.

How Does Stardust Help The Community?

Stardust uses the materials received and the profits from its retail warehouses to reinvest in the community through two of its own community service programs. The Angels On Call program provides no-cost home repair services and other related assistance programs to elitible homeowners. The Computers For Kids program recycles donated refurbished computers to school-aged children in under performing and disadvantaged school districts. At Stardust we also are doing our part to keep the environment greener! Through our no-cost deconstruction service to homeowners, we have diverted used building materials from the landfills to our warehouses where they are recycled back into the community.

Did You See Us On TV??

If you missed the show, click the NASCAR Angels logo to view the ANGELS ON CALL episode that originally aired on May 24, 2008!

The volunteers at ANGELS ON CALL had relied on a donated 1993 Ford 350 Econoline van to haul everything from water heaters to lumber -- and it was falling apart after 300,000 miles. Our friends at NASCAR Angels transformed the van into a beautiful - and safe! - new van.

Just LOOK at the amazing job they did!
